Controversy or Clarity?

In the news: State Representative Mark Keough of Montgomery County is spring-boarding a bill called the Texas Fair Tuition Act, which will repeal the Dream Act. Mark's bill would leave illegals in Texas paying out-of-state tuition if attending Texas public higher education institutions.

I don't know how it ever got to the point where we would have to amend such a bill. Why would we let illegals have in-state tuition, as well as, reduced rates, free books, free tuition, housing assistance....and the list goes on, but not assist single legal mothers first? Or how about those young men and women who give countless hours of civic volunteer hours to their communities, who have grown up here and have legal status? Why are they paying full in-state tuition and the illegals get the same status?

This type of logic is not embraced by the progressives. They see it as "mean". Not so. Logic demands truth not sentimentalism. Sentimentalism is damaging whole societies and one must point out the difference between sentimental feelings versus love. Love demands reason and logic, while the former thrives in murky gushes of faddish emotions. Our country and state have had enough of such whims. Time to row back to "permanent things" and a principled future.

The nonsensical and emotional verbiage that has engulfed the American process shows a lack of an authentic education, a lack of logic, and a lack of wisdom. This dumbed down emotionalism hurts all Americans. Statesmen rarely exist now. Instead we have political junkies enamored by power and prestige. The running line: "Any idiot can run for office." And unfortunately, Americans seem to be voting for them, too.

The exception here is Mark Keough. Reason and logic, along with a strong sense of moral principles, seems to be part of this mans plan while in office. We can only thank God for him right now. Let's see what else he brings to the table in the coming months.
